NOAA Fisheries Proposes Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Management Plan Amendment

NOAA Fisheries is proposing Amendment 19 to the Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Management Plan.

Amendment 19 contains two measures that would improve the efficiency and timeliness of annual fishery allocations for the scallop fishery.

The first measure would allow for a specifications process instead of using framework adjustments to implement simple, non-controversial allocations by April 1 of each year.

The second measure would change the start date of the fishery from March 1 to April 1, so that allocations would be in place by the start of the fishing year.

Read the proposed rule (pdf) as published in the Federal Register, and submit your comments through the e-rulemaking portal or by mailing:
