Massachusetts Commercial Summer Flounder Fishery Closed Effective August 19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 19, 2016

Effective 0001 hours August 19, fishing vessels issued a Federal permit for the summer flounder fishery may not land summer flounder in Massachusetts. 

Massachusetts has caught its entire 2016 commercial quota. The fishery will remain closed until the end of the fishing year, December 31.

Please note that this closure is concurrent with Massachusetts' closure of its commercial summer flounder fishery to state permitted vessels and dealers, which went into effect at 0001 hours on August 15, 2016.
