NOAA Fisheries Announces Voluntary Speed Restriction Zone Around Martha's Vineyard

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 22, 2017

NOAA Fisheries announces that a voluntary vessel speed restriction zone (Dynamic Management Area or DMA) has been established 16 nautical miles south of Martha's Vineyard, MA to protect an aggregation of 10 right whales sighted in this area on February 21, 2016. 

Mariners, please avoid or transit at 10 knots or less inside the area.

This voluntary speed restriction zone is in effect through March 8
