NOAA Fisheries Announces New Voluntary Speed Restriction Zone E-NE of Boston

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 29, 2017

NOAA Fisheries has established a voluntary vessel speed restriction zone 12 nautical miles east-northeast of Boston, MA established to protect an aggregation of three right whales sighted in this area on March 25, 2017.

Mariners, please avoid or transit at 10 knots or less inside the area (see map).

070 18 W

This voluntary speed restriction zone is in effect through April 9.
