NOAA Fisheries Seeks Comments on Control Date for the Northeast Multispecies (Groundfish) Charter/Party Fishery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 19, 2018

The New England Fishery Management Council’s Recreational Advisory Panel recently recommended establishing a control date for the groundfish charter/party fishery.

Through this Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, NOAA Fisheries seeks comments on a March 19, 2018 control date for the Northeast Multispecies (Groundfish) charter/party fishery.

This action does not establish a limited access program for this fishery. The Council may choose to use this control date or some other qualification criteria in the event that the Council decides to establish such a program, or the Council may choose to take no further action.

NOAA Fisheries recommends that participants in this groundfish charter/party fishery locate and preserve all documents related to their activity in this fishery.

Read the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking as published in the Federal Register, and submit your comments through the online portal. You may also submit comments through regular mail to: Michael Pentony, Regional Administrator, Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office, 55 Great Republic Drive, Gloucester, MA 01930. Please mark the outside of the envelope:  “Comments on the Proposed Control Date for the Groundfish Charter/Party Fishery.”

The comment period is open through April 18, 2018.
