Massachusetts Summer Flounder Fishery Closure Begins August 14

Effective at 0001 on August 14, 2018, vessels are prohibited from landing summer flounder in Massachusetts for the remainder of the 2018 fishing year, unless additional quota becomes available through a transfer and is announced in the Federal Register.

This closure is required by regulation because as of August 4, 2018, Massachusetts has landed 350,174 pounds (85% of their quota), and is projected to reach its annual quota by August 14, 2018.

For more information, please read the notice as filed in the Federal Register this afternoon, and the permit holder bulletin posted on our website.
