FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
December 1, 2016

Effective Date:  0001 hours on December 2, 2016

The 2016 commercial bluefish quota allocated to New York has been harvested.  Vessels holding Federal commercial permits are prohibited from landing bluefish, effective 0001 hours, December 2, 2016 in New York for the remainder of the 2016 calendar year.  This closure is concurrent with the State of New York’s closure of its commercial bluefish fisheries to state permitted vessels and dealers.

Vessel owners issued Federal permits must continue to complete and submit vessel logbooks.  Additionally, dealers issued Federal dealer permits for bluefish may not purchase either species from federally permitted vessels that land in New York for the remainder of the calendar year.  Federally permitted dealers must also continue to report all other federally managed fish purchased.

For small entity compliance guides, this bulletin complies with section 212 of the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement and Fairness Act of 1996.  This notice is authorized by the Regional Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service, Greater Atlantic Region.
