2016 Atlantic Large Whale Entanglement Report

Abstract

This report summarizes all of the entanglement reports for the Atlantic coast that are reported to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) and only addresses animals with new indications of entanglement that occurred in the calendar year of 2016.  Pre-2016 cases that continued into 2016 are not listed.  This report should not be considered a comprehensive list of every entanglement interaction that occurred but rather a minimum number as not all interactions are reported.
