Publications in this series include works in the areas of marine policy and marine policy analysis.</p> <p><strong>Greater Atlantic&nbsp;Region Policy Series Mission</strong></p> <p>NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic&nbsp;Region policy analysts routinely develop documents, including policy analyses, white papers, case studies, workshop proceedings, and position papers, to support their stewardship and management activities.</p> <p><br><em><strong>The mission of the Greater Atlantic&nbsp;Region Policy Series is to provide centralized, public access to NOAA Fisheries policy documents beyond those required by statute.</strong></em></p> <p><br>This series complements existing NOAA Fisheries scientific publications currently available to the public through the NOAA Fisheries Scientific Publication Office and regional Science Centers.</p> en-US Greater Atlantic Region Policy Series https://www.greateratlantic.fisheries.noaa.gov/policyseries/index.php/GARPS/article/view/31 <p>This report summarizes all large whale entanglement incidents along the Atlantic coast that were reported to the NOAA Fisheries in 2021 in which line, gear or unknown materials were directly observed on the whale.&nbsp; Only incidents with new indications of entanglement that are first reported in 2021 are included.&nbsp; We do not include whales that were reported entangled in earlier years and continued to be entangled in 2021.
