Final 2001 Specifications for Surf Clams, Ocean Quahogs and Maine Mahogany Quahogs

Dear Permit Holder:

This letter is to inform you that the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued final specifications for the 2001 fishing year for surf clams, ocean quahogs and Maine mahogany quahogs. NMFS has approved an 11-percent increase for the surf clam fishery from the 2000 quota level and is maintaining the quota at status quo levels for the 2001 ocean quahog and Maine mahogany quahog fisheries. In addition, NMFS has extended the suspension of the minimum size limit for surf clams in the 2001 fishing year. The following table summarizes the 2001 fishing year quotas:
