Dear Scup Dealer and Commercial Vessel Permit Holder:
This letter is to inform you that the Summer period (May-October) commercial quota for the scup fishery has been harvested.
Effective 0001 hours June 28, 1999, fishing vessels issued a Federal moratorium permit for the scup fishery may no longer land scup for the remainder of the Summer period. Vessel owners issued Federal permits are reminded that they must continue to complete and submit vessel logbooks. Additionally, dealers issued Federal dealer permits for scup are advised that they may not purchase scup from Federally permitted vessels that land for the remainder of the Summer period. Federally permitted dealers must continue to report all fish purchases from any vessel.
This notice is authorized by the Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service, Northeast Region.
