New York Summer Flounder Fishery Reopened

Date: December 17, 1999

Dear Summer Flounder Dealer and Commercial Vessel Permit Holder:

This letter is to inform you that as a result of a transfer of the summer flounder (fluke) commercial quota from North Carolina to New York, the summer flounder commercial fishery in the EEZ for the State of New York is reopened as of December 17, 1999.

Therefore, effective December 17, 1999, fishing vessels issued a Federal moratorium permit for the summer flounder fishery may land summer flounder in New York for the remainder of the 1999 calendar year. Additionally, dealers issued Federal dealer permits for summer flounder are advised that they may purchase summer flounder from Federally permitted vessels that land in New York for the remainder of the calendar year.

This notice is authorized by the Regional Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service
