Reminder: Atlantic Sturgeon Critical Habitat Informational Meetings and Public Hearings

On June 3, NOAA Fisheries announced two proposed rules to designate critical habitat for five distinct population segments of federally listed Atlantic sturgeon.Read NOAA Fisheries' proposed rule (pdf) for Atlantic sturgeon critical habitat, and  supporting documentation (pdf), including maps (pdf) showing the areas being proposed.

Information Meetings

We are holding two informational meetings to share information regarding the proposed critical habitat designations for the Gulf of Maine, New York Bight, and Chesapeake Bay DPSs with the public.

We will not be taking comments for the record at these meetings. 

Public Hearings

We are holding two public hearings on the proposed rule. During the first half-hour of each, we will present information on the proposed rule; this presentation will be available via webinar. 

For the remaining time, we will take public comment for the record. Comments will be recorded by a court recorder and become part of the public record. 

If you attend in person, you will need to present a photo ID and sign in at the front desk. We will also take public comments over the phone.
