NOAA Fisheries Announces Proposed 2016-2018 Management Measures for Spiny Dogfish

June 22, 2016

NOAA Fisheries announces proposed management measures for the spiny dogfish fishery for the 2016-2018 fishing years.

The spiny dogfish trip limit would remain unchanged (5,000 lb), but we will consider recent requests from the Councils and ASMFC to increase it to 6,000 lb, after reviewing public comments on this proposed rule.  

Read the proposed rule as published in the Federal Register.

The comment period is open through July 7.

You may submit comments by any one of the following methods: 

  • Electronic Submission: Submit all electronic public comments via the Federal eRulemaking Portal. Click the "Comment Now!" icon, complete the required fields, and enter or attach your comments.
  • Mail: NMFS, Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office, 55 Great Republic Drive, Gloucester, MA 01930. Mark the outside of the envelope “Comments on Spiny Dogfish Specifications.
