Effective on December 29: RI Commercial Summer Flounder Fishery is Closed

We are closing the commercial summer flounder fishery in Rhode Island on 0001, December 29, 2018. Rhode Island is also closing their state fishery on December 29, 2018.

This closure is required by regulation. As of December 8, 2018, Rhode Island has landed 985,225 pounds (98 percent of their quota), and is projected to reach their annual quota by December 29, 2018.

Federally permitted vessels fishing for summer flounder may not land summer flounder in Rhode Island for the remainder of the 2018 fishing year (December 31, 2018).
