Date: April 23, 1998
This notice responds to recent confusion over the administration of the seven day block requirement for multispecies Day Gillnet vessels.
Day Gillnet category vessels are required to declare and take 120 days out of the gillnet fishery as long as each block of time is a minimum of seven consecutive days. Vessels subject to this requirement may also:
Declare any amount of block time in excess of seven days.Extend a declared block of time out of the gillnet fishery provided the vessel calls before that block of time expires.End a block of time prematurely. If that vessel was out for seven days or more, it will be credited for the time taken. If it was out for less than seven days, there will be no credit for time taken.
