Haddock Trip Limit Increased

Date: November 4, 1999

Dear Multispecies Permit Holder:

This letter is to inform you that as of November 5, 1999, pursuant to 50 CFR 648.86(a)(1)(iii), the haddock landing limit for vessels fishing under a multispecies day-at-sea (DAS) permit, is increased from 2,000 lb/DAS to 5,000 lb/DAS. In addition, the maximum landing limit allowed per trip is increased from 20,000 lb/trip to 50,000 lb/trip.

This increase is being enacted as specified in Framework 27 to provide the industry with the opportunity to harvest at least 75% of the total allowed catch (TAC) for the 1999 fishing year (TAC - 5,600 MT; 75% TAC - 4218.5 MT).

For trips underway on November 5, 1999, the trip limit change is implemented for any DAS after November 5, 1999. Landing limits for DAS used prior to November 5, 1999, remain at 2,000 lb/DAS, 20,000 lb/trip maximum.

This notice is authorized by the Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service, Northeast Region.
